Terms and Conditions

Payment

We request a 50% conditionally refundable deposit when booking a camping pitch or glamping unit. Receipt of the deposit secures your booking. Please note that if you are not already a member of the Greener Camping Club, £12 is payable in addition to your deposit for your Greener Camping Club membership. Pitches and glamping units are held provisionally for up to seven days, after which, if we have not received your deposit, the dates will be released. The balance is required six weeks prior to your arrival date. If we do not receive your balance by this time, we will assume you have cancelled your holiday and release the dates – see below. For short lead-time bookings – ie. those booked less than six weeks before arrival, the full amount will be requested to secure the booking.

Cancellation by you

If you cancel your holiday six weeks or more before your arrival date we will refund your deposit less a 20% admin fee. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is not refundable. If you cancel your holiday less than six weeks before your arrival date and we are able to re-let your holiday for the dates you have booked, we will refund your deposit and balance, less a 20% admin fee. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is not refundable. In the event that we are unable re-let your dates, no refund will be made. Bookings are not transferable to another family without our prior agreement in writing. If you are concerned about the prospect of cancellation, please take out holiday insurance. Please see further info below.

Cancellation by us

High Hall Campsite reserves the right to cancel a camping/glamping holiday at short notice if we are unable to provide safe accommodation or camping environment, due to extreme weather conditions, ill health, fire, flooding or any other extenuating circumstances beyond our control. Under such circumstances, your full payment will be returned to you. High Hall Campsite cannot accept liability or responsibility for any loss, including consequential loss, caused by cancellation. The Greener Camping Club membership fee is not refundable.

Children

There are many opportunities for children to have lots of adventures around the campsite and surrounding area. We aim to provide a safe environment that allows children to reconnect with nature and enjoy great outdoors. High Hall is a working farm so there are contingent risks to be aware of. Fire pits are a big part of the camping experience at High Hall, there is a beck running through the site and a fishing pond, we have lots of livestock on the farm including cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens. Some of the work on the farm requires tractors and other farm machinery at certain times of the year. These risks are small and should be self-evident – but if you are not clear, please ask! High Hall Campsite accepts no responsibility for injury incurred on site. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children on site at all times.

Cars

The speed limit while on the farm is 5 mph and you are welcome to park a car on your pitch if you are camping in a tent. Please note that it can get quite wet here, especially after or during heavy rain, so we also have a gravel track, turning area and parking area close to the site entrance that you are welcome to use if you do not wish to drive on the grass or park next to your tent. We can provide wheelbarrows to help you transport your belongings to your pitch and help can be provided by us if required.

Recycling your rubbish

A condition of camping here is that you recycle your rubbish. That means separating glass, cans, plastic, paper, cardboard etc. and placing them in the special bins provided on site. What is left, ie. only items that are not recyclable, can be placed in the small landfill bin.

Fire pits

Please only use the designated fire pits that are provided in your stay. Do not alter the position of the fire pit and make sure you pitch your tent a minimum of 3 metres away from it. Please only burn firewood purchased on site, do not melt or burn any plastic, waste etc. Do not leave your fire pit unattended and think carefully about whether or not to light a fire if it is windy. You can purchase firewood at the ‘Old Cow Shed’, please use the wheelbarrows provided to collect it.

Arrival and departure times

Arrival time is between 3 – 8 pm, if you are going to arrive later, please let us know so we can make arrangements.

Departure time is 10 am for the Airstream and pods. 11 am for the tents.

Respect your neighbours

We allow radios, stereos or other sound systems but we have a loud music curfew at 9 pm. Acoustic instruments can be played after this, such as guitars, harmonicas, flutes etc but please keep the noise down so everyone can enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Noisy visitors who disturb other guests will be asked politely to leave, without refund.

No Dogs

Sorry, we do not permit dogs on site. However, please note that we are not an entirely dog-free site. We have our own team of sheep dogs and Wiggins (our free roaming Jack Russell).

Smoking

All the glamping units and the undercover facilities in the ‘Old Cow Shed’ are strictly NO SMOKING.

If you smoke, do it outside and dispose of your cigarette ends in the campfire or bin.

The Weather

In Cumbria we get our fair share of adverse weather. The campsite can be subjected to extreme weather conditions, though we are fortunate in that we do not flood. You must ensure that your tent is robust and correctly erected – and avoid pitching in any obvious dips.

Property loss

High Hall Campsite cannot be held responsible for any lost or stolen property. We have never had an incidence of theft and we very much hope we never do.

Breakages or damage

In the unlikely eventuality that upon arrival you find any items or fittings, utensils, crockery or cutlery are broken, damaged or missing, please report it to Jimmy or Tom and it will be replaced as soon as possible.

Should any significant damage or breakage occur, other than acceptable wear and tear, a charge for replacement may be made. We reserve the right to charge for excessive cleaning where a glamping unit has been left in an unacceptable condition, through waste, litter, interference in the structure, movement of furniture and contents etc. Guests will be held responsible for any fire, smoke or general damage, or alteration to the structure caused by negligence.
