A wilder camping experience in Cumbria’s Eden Valley

Welcome to High Hall Farm

High Hall Campsite is located on our family farm in the Eden Valley, Cumbria. We are surrounded by the beautiful North Pennine fells with amazing views across the valley to the Lake District National Park.

Our pitches are situated between our wildlife pond and the Croglin Beck that meanders its way through the farm. Here at High Hall, you can always guarantee a waterside stay.

We are delighted to be a certified member of The Greener Camping Club (GCC). The GCC share our passion for the environment and sustainable low impact camping. For every new member that signs up, GCC will plant a tree as part of the ‘Trees For Life’ scheme. You can find out about this and lots more of what the club has to offer by clicking the link below.

Camping

All of our pitches offer a waterside camping experience, surrounded by trees, meadow and the tranquil sound of the Croglin Beck running by. It’s the perfect environment to relax and unwind.

Our pitches are large and generously spaced out, giving you enough room to relax in privacy, or bring the family. Each pitch has its own picnic bench and fire pit, perfect if you want to buy some firewood and some of our own pasture-fed meat to cook.

Glamping

Meet Big Bertha, our 1973 Airsteam Landyacht.

Big Bertha has been stylishly renovated to create a unique space with all the comforts of home.

Sleeping up to 6 people, Big Bertha has everything you need for a luxury stay – a bathroom with a shower and toilet, and a well-equipped kitchen, which includes an oven and fridge-freezer.

Outside the airstream overlooking Croglin Beck, there is a decking area and hot tub. This is the perfect place to relax on a summers night by the fire pit.

Things to do

We are located in the heart of the Eden Valley, right on the boundary of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so there are plenty of trails for walkers to explore. For cyclists, the roads along the fellside offer fantastic views, which to the east on a clear day extend right into the Lake District. The Coast to Coast cycle route is just 3 miles away at the bottom of Hartside Pass.

There’s also plenty of history around us. Hadrian’s Wall is just a short drive away, which offers more walks as well as the Roman Forts at Birdoswald and Housesteads.

One of the most popular local destinations is Ullswater, with Pooley Bridge about a 30-minute drive away offering access to Ullswater Steamers and the rest of the Lake District. We’d recommend a trip on the boat to Glenridding at the top of the lake. Keswick, Derwentwater and the heart of the northern Lake District fells are also just a 40-minute drive away – plenty to do for those seeking hillwalking, eating, drinking, shopping, boat hire or a Pencil Museum.

Local pubs

We have lots of great pubs in the local area, all serving home cooked food and a selection of real ales.
